About Your Guide & The Boat

Brother Bear Fishing Adventures guides salmon and steelhead fishing trips on the Humptulips, Wynoochee and Satsop rivers in the Grays Harbor area of Washington.

Your fishing guide

I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula, where my dad worked as a fishing guide on these same rivers. I honestly can't tell you when I first went fishing - it feels like I was always out there - but I remember catching my first salmon at age six. By seven I was already landing salmon and steelhead on my own. That was 44 years ago, and fishing is still my passion today.

I started guiding to share that same feeling with other people, and to make it something everyone can afford, not just a luxury for a few. A good guided trip shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. One of my favorite parts of this job is getting kids and disabled anglers out on the water - there's nothing like watching someone feel that first tug on the line.

The boat

A 16-foot heated drift boat, so a cold morning on the water still means a warm ride. All fishing gear is provided - just bring your lunch and clothing and footwear suited to the weather.

When more than one party books the same day, a partner guide runs a second drift boat so everyone still gets on the water.

Licensing & rules

Gear is provided, but clients need their own Washington fishing license and Catch Record Card for salmon and steelhead. Both are available online from WDFW or from any license dealer.

Your guide is licensed through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife as a commercial fishing guide, with a registered vessel.
